"Celestial" ruled the night for all matters visual yesterday evening at The Frick Collection for what many often call the "other" social "Party of the Year" (juxtaposed to its somewhat larger neighboring institution 12 blocks north on Fifth Avenue) and attended by 600 or so exquisitely dressed guests at the Young Fellows Ball benefit. From the constellation image on the invitation to the press wall to the glowing constellation-inspired trays of hors d'oeuvre's by Olivier Cheng Catering & Events, the stars were everywhere. Taking on this task for the lighting of the event was a pure creative pleasure in every way as we painted with light the Garden Court ceiling and wall surfaces with the constellation imagery and a tapestry of starry galaxies. DJ Jason Fioto of Generation Events got the crowd dancing quickly in the similarly visually themed Music Room supported in part by our K-Array KR400 audio system. Guests partied and mingled til midnight. Proceeds from the benefit provide essential support for the Frick's education program, which serves New York City public schools in all five boroughs, and for the Frick Art Reference Library. Lighting design, lighting production, and audio services by L & M Sound & Light.
